CEVDET SUNAY HOUSE MUSEUM

Cevdet Sunay House Museum

Cevdet Sunay Museum is situated in Ataköy, 21 kms. To Çaykara. The house of Cevdet Sunay- a statesman who was born in 1900, in Ataköy, and became the commander of Turkish Armed Forces, the fifth prime minister of Turkey and senator sequentially- was restored in 2001 and opened to public visit as the house-museum.

Being a typical two-storey country house, the building was made of timber and carved-stones. The first floor is used as a store and the ground floor, designed as the museum, has two doors in east and west. Just at the entrance is a huge hall which is full of photos depicting cuts from Cevdet Sunay's life. The hall was used as a sitting room of a traditional village gathering. The space, used as a study room, includes Cevdet Sunay's books, photos, plaques, a study table, sofas and other decorations. The bedroom includes a bed, a table and other private belongings. The guestroom, likewise, is decorated with personal belongings.

Cevdet Sunay House Museum is a remarkable place in terms of both housing the valuable belongings displayed and catching and feeling a clear side of the natural beauties of Ataköy, the town on the way to Sultan Murat Plateau.
